First Sunday | First Week | First Meeting of the Year
Tonight’s lesson came at the right time for me. The past two to three weeks have been long, and when you don’t see movement right away, it’s easy to feel distracted, despondent, or slightly off focus. This teaching helped realign my heart, my mind, and my perspective as I step into 2026.
One of the strongest points that stood out to me was that time is the greatest economy we have. Time is precious, and how we steward it matters. We don’t own anything here—everything we have is an assignment given to us by God to manage. That reminder brought me back to the importance of obedience, faithfulness, and being intentional with what God has placed in my hands.
Another key takeaway was “don’t be close-minded.” Fear and the unknown can cause us to shut ourselv. es off from wisdom, insight, and growth. This lesson reminded me that openness is often required for increase. God may speak through different perspectives, but alignment with His Word keeps us grounded and protected
The concept of alignment is what truly shifted something in me tonight. Bishop Allen’s example of a car being out of alignment was powerful. When the tires aren’t aligned—when one is pulling more than the other—the car doesn’t move smoothly. In the same way, when our lives aren’t aligned with the Word of God, we feel resistance, pulling, and unnecessary struggle. Alignment doesn’t mean perfection; it means moving in the same direction as God’s will.
The teaching on Jesus feeding the five thousand brought clarity to how God works. Jesus told the people to sit down—there was order. He didn’t rely on money or human calculation. Instead, He used what was already there: something small. He lifted it up, blessed it, and addressed a real need. Multiplication happened during distribution, not before. Then the disciples gathered the leftovers, and the boy who gave his lunch made a sacrifice. It was all a process—and obedience to that process mattered.
What impacted me most was this truth: God responds to gratitude. Gratitude moves God. Acknowledgment honors Him. Praise invites increase. God loves to be recognized, praised, and thanked—not because He needs it, but because gratitude aligns our hearts with His provision.
As I enter 2026, I am thankful. Thankful for what I have. Thankful for what I’ve learned. Thankful for the small beginnings. Thankful for the process. Thankful for alignment. I believe that when I remain grateful, God will continue to bring increase—because gratitude keeps me positioned for His blessing.
