What are you doing with what God has already given you?
One of the biggest takeaways from today’s teaching was that obedience is more than knowing what to do. Knowing the Word, gaining knowledge, and recognizing an opportunity are only the beginning. At some point, what we know has to turn into action.
1. Obedience is more than knowing what to do. “Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only…” — James 1:22
2. Expectation should change your behavior. If you truly expect growth, your actions and preparation should reflect it. Faith without works is dead. — James 2:17
3. Look at your talents differently. In Matthew 25, the servants were entrusted with talents. The question is: After God entrusted you with that gift, knowledge, resource, or opportunity, what are you doing with it?
4. Faithfulness should not become an excuse for stagnation. Sometimes growth requires us to learn, adjust, move, and do something differently.
5. Isaac acted when conditions didn't look favorable. Isaac sowed in the land and received a harvest. — Genesis 26:12 Everything does not have to look perfect before you obey.
6. Expectation is different from entitlement. Expectation says, “I trust God's principles enough to act upon them.”
7. Jesus expected fruit where there was opportunity. Mark 11:13 reminds us to examine the fruit connected to our opportunities.
So ask yourself:
What has God placed in my hands? What have I learned that I haven't applied? What opportunity have I been given? What am I afraid to act on? And where is my obedience?
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” — Isaiah 1:19
Stewardship manages what you have. Obedience acts on what you know. Faith moves even when conditions aren't perfect. Expectation changes how you prepare. Opportunity should produce fruit.
