My assignment this week deals with money, and I’m sharing my initial post in ResellCircle:

The main idea of Scazzero’s Chapter 8 is that emotionally healthy planning and decision-making must come from a place of inner stillness, prayer, and surrendered discernment. Leaders make poor decisions when they act from pressure, survival mode, or anxiety. I chose this chapter because I am currently in a fellowship course and making important financial and ministry decisions. I want to move from emotional clarity, not stress.

O’Connor teaches that money is deeply spiritual because it exposes what we trust, what we fear, and how we define “enough.” In a spiritual formation course focused on accountability, this reminds me that our emotional relationship with money shapes our goals, our follow-through, and our trust in God. Seeing money spiritually helps prevent fear-based decisions and keeps my heart aligned with stewardship. In my current financial season, emotional health directly influences the choices I make. When I’m anxious, I feel pressured to rush. But Scazzero’s teaching reminds me to slow down, pray, and allow the Holy Spirit to settle me before planning or committing.

This helps me steward resources wisely, make faith-based decisions, and stay accountable in both my finances and my fellowship coursework.

Well stated Daina. We must do our due diligence and take action based on  knowledge not reacting from emotions. I totally agree!
